The B.C. Lions signed running back Antonio Wimbush Jr. to a future contract that starts in 2026 on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Antonio Wimbush Jr. is five foot nine and weighs 205 pounds. A native of Kingsland, Georgia, Winbush Jr. was a key contributor in helping the Vegas Knight Hawks win the IFL Championship in 2025 with 173 carries for 765 yards, 26 rushing touchdowns, 45 catches for 396 yards, six receiving touchdowns, 44 kick returns for 854 yards, five touchdowns, and eight tackles (2 solos, 6 assists) in 19 games. He was named First Team All-IFL and the 2025 IFL Special Teams Player of the Year.
The Iowa Barnstormers signed Wimbush Jr. on February 9, 2022. He played two seasons in Iowa with 253 carries for 987 yards, 34 rushing touchdowns, 64 catches for 591 yards, 11 receiving touchdowns, 29 kick returns for 397 yards, and five tackles (5 solos) in 23 games. He was named to the All-IFL Rookie Team in 2022 and Special Teams Player of the Week in 2022 after scoring seven touchdowns in Week 18 against the Tucson Sugar Skulls.
Wimbush Jr. signed with the Vegas Knight Hawks in 2024. He had 112 carries for 468 yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 24 catches for 208 yards, three receiving touchdowns, 25 kick returns for 394 yards, one touchdown, and eight tackles (5 solos, 3 assists) in 15 games.
Collegiately, Wimbush Jr. played five seasons at Carson-Newman University (2015-19) with 572 carries for 4,003 yards, 41 rushing touchdowns, competed 3 of 4 passes (75%) for 134 yards, one passing touchdown, 37 catches for 527 yards, two receiving touchdowns, two kick returns for 16 yards, 26 punt returns for 223 yards, and six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist) in 48 games for the Eagles.
Wimbush Jr. became the sixth player in Carson-Newman history with multiple 1,000-yard rushing campaigns. He was named a three-time First Team All-SAC, First Team All-Region by D2CCA, CoSIDA Academic All-American, All-American by Don Hansen, AFCA Good Works Team Nominee, and a two-time All-Region by Don Hansen.
Wimbush Jr. graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Commerce and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management.
