The Michigan Panthers re-signed linebacker R.J. Moten on Tuesday according to James Larsen.
R.J. Moten is six foot and weighs 229 pounds. A native of Delran, New Jersey, Moten attended the Philadelphia Eagles rookie minicamp in 2024. The Michigan Panthers signed Moten on May 13, 2025. In 2025, Moten made one tackle (1 solo) in two games.
The Panthers released him on June 3, 2025, and re-signed him on July 4, 2025. They released him on July 28, 2025. The New England Patriots signed Moten on July 29, 2025. He made three tackles (3 solos) in three preseason games. The Patriots released him on August 22, 2025.
Collegiately, Moten played two seasons at Michigan (2021-22) making 65 tackles (48 solos, 17 assists), three tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, six pass breakups, and one kick return for 28 games for the Wolverines. He was named a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Then, he transferred to Florida (2023-24) making 31 tackles (14 solos, 17 assists), four tackles for loss, half a sack, and one pass breakup in 18 games for the Gators. Moten is the son of Ron Moten, who was a sixth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1987.
