The United Football League (UFL) announced on Monday during ESPN’s College GameDay the eight markets that will play in the 2024 season as part of the newly merged league between the XFL and USFL. The UFL kicks off the 2024 season on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
The eight teams will be split into two conferences which will be known as the USFL and XFL. The USFL Conference will have the Michigan Panthers, Birmingham Stallions, Memphis Showboats, and the Houston Gamblers will be rebranded as the Roughnecks.
The XFL Conference will feature the D.C. Defenders, St. Louis Battlehawks, Arlington Renegades, and the San Antonio Brahmas.
In addition to the teams, the UFL announced the head coaches for each team. In the USFL Conference, Skip Holz will return as the head coach of the Stallions, former New Orleans Breakers coach John DeFilippo will coach the Memphis Showboats, Curtis Johnson will coach the Houston Roughnecks, and Mike Nolan will return to coach the Michigan Panthers.
In the XFL Conference, Bob Stoops returns to coach the Arlington Renegades, Wade Phillips will coach the San Antonio Brahmas, Reggie Barlow returns to coach the D.C. Defenders, and Anthony Becht will return to coach the St. Louis Battlehawks.
