The St. Louis Battlehawks released offensive lineman Dohnovan West on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page. West signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
Dohnovan West is six foot three and weighs 309 pounds. The 24-year-old from Mission Hills, California, played 10 games, of which six were starts for the Battlehawks in 2025.
St. Louis averaged 23.1 points per game, 289.8 yards per game, 145.6 passing yards per game, 144.2 rushing yards per game, 23 touchdowns, and allowed 22 sacks finishing 8-2 for the season. The Battlehawks would appear in the XFL Conference Championship game against the D.C. Defenders.
The San Francisco 49ers signed West as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. In 2022, he played three preseason games. The 49ers released him on August 29, 2022. The Vegas Vipers of the XFL drafted West in the third round (20th pick) in Phase 4 of the 2023 XFL Draft. In 2023, he played 10 games, of which seven were starts.
The Vipers were not included in the USFL and XFL merger that formed the United Football League (UFL). The St. Louis Battlehawks drafted West in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, he played nine games.
St. Louis’s offense ranked sixth in total offense yards (2,721), third in rushing yards (977), seventh in passing yards (1,744), sixth in yards per game (272.1), and second in touchdowns (30). The Battlehawks appeared in the XFL Conference Championship game against the San Antonio Brahmas.
Collegiately, West played three seasons at Arizona State (2019-21) starting 27 games as a center for the Sun Devils. In 2021, Arizona State averaged 28.4 points per game, 194.7 passing yards per game, 194.9 rushing yards per game, 389.6 total yards per game, and 46 touchdowns, finishing 6-3 for the season. They appeared in the Las Vegas Bowl against Wisconsin. West was named Second Team All-Pac 12.
