The Ottawa Redblacks released running back Elijah Collins and defensive back Shakur Brown on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Elijah Collins is six foot and weighs 212 pounds. The 24-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on May 5, 2025. In 2025, Collins had eight carries for 25 yards and three catches for 62 yards in two preseason games to earn a spot on the practice squad.

The Cincinnati Bengals signed Collins as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he had 10 carries for 29 yards, four catches for 39 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in three preseason games. The Bengals released him on August 27, 2024.

Collegiately, Collins played five seasons at Michigan State (2018-22) with 353 carries for 1,506 yards, 11 touchdowns, 36 catches for 260 yards, one touchdown, and six tackles (2 solos, 6 assists) in 26 games for the Spartans. He was named Third Team All-Big Ten in 2019.

Then, he transferred to Oklahoma State in 2023 with 30 carries for 142 yards, two touchdowns, two catches for 19 yards, one kick return for 10 yards, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 10 games for the Cowboys.

Shakur Brown is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 26-year-old from Stockbridge, Georgia, signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on April 10, 2025. In 2025, he made three tackles, two tackles on special teams, and three pass breakups in two preseason games.

The Redblacks released him on May 31, 2025. They re-signed him on July 9, 2025. He spent over two weeks on the practice squad.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Brown as an undrafted free agent on May 7, 2021. He also had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions. On April 22, 2022, Brown signed with the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) making 36 tackles (23 solos, 13 assists), one tackle for loss, and one pass breakup in nine games.

After Pittsburgh, Brown signed with the Tennessee Titans but was waived from injured reserve. The Arlington Renegades signed Brown as a free agent on May 16, 2023. In 2023, he made 34 tackles (17 solos, 17 assists), one tackle for loss, three pass breakups, and one interception in nine games.  

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Brown on April 10, 2024. In 2024, he made six tackles in two preseason games. The Ticats released him on June 1, 2024.

Collegiately, Brown played three seasons at Michigan State (2018-20) making 54 tackles (38 solos, 16 assists), two tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 186 yards, one touchdown, and 16 pass breakups in 26 games for the Spartans. He finished his career ranked eighth in MSU history with 186 interception return yards.
