Calgary Stampeders sign WR Tommy Wilson, place three players on the retired list

The Calgary Stampeders signed speedy wide receiver Tommy Wilson on Saturday according to the CFL Transactions page. They also placed three draft picks, offensive lineman Matthew Stokman, defensive lineman Max Von Muehldorfer, and defensive back Ashton Miller-Melancon on the retired list as they are returning to school.

Tommy Wilson is five foot eleven and weighs 196 pounds. The 23-year-old from the United Kingdom, attended the CFL Combine earlier this year with 18 bench presses, 4.61 in the 40-yard dash, 37.5 in the broad, 6.84 in the cone drills, and 4.02 in the shuttle drills.

Wilson played one season with the Dresden Monarchs (GFL) making 74 catches for 1,161 yards, 16 touchdowns, eight carries for 32 yards, one punt return for 52 yards, one kick return for 16 yards, and five tackles (3 solos, 2 assists) in 14 games. In 2023, he played for the Potsdam Royals (GFL) making three catches for 31 yards in three games. He signed with the Milano Seamen of the European League of Football on December 9, 2023, but was later released.

He re-signed with the Potsdam Royals in 2024. In 2024, he made 49 catches for 784 yards, nine touchdowns, 13 carries for 233 yards, three touchdowns, three kick returns for 85 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 10 games.

Matt Stokman is six foot three and weighs 334 pounds. The 23-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the seventh round (56th pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. In 2025, Stokman played two preseason games.

Collegiately, Stokman played five seasons at the University of Manitoba (2019-24) playing 36 games, of which 26 were starts including 24 at guard. In 2024, Manitoba averaged 30.67 points per game, 252.7 rushing yards per game, 205.33 passing yards per game, 439.2 total yards per game, 31 touchdowns, and allowed 12 sacks finishing 7-2 for the season.

Max von Muehldorfer is six foot one and weighs 290 pounds. The 22-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the seventh round (61st pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. In 2025, Muehldorfer made two tackles and one fumble recovery in two preseason games.

Collegiately, Muehldorfer played four seasons at Western University (2021-24) making 61 tackles (26 solos, 35 assists), four tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup in 23 games for the Mustangs. He was part of the 2021 Vanier Cup championship team.

Ashton Miller-Melancon is six foot two and weighs 203 pounds. The 23-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the eighth round (65th pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. In 2025, Miller-Melancon played two preseason games recording no stats.

Collegiately, Miller-Melancon played four seasons at Queen’s University (2021-24) making 150 tackles (108 solos, 42 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, 16 interceptions for 185 yards, 27 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 40 games for the Gaels.
