The St. Louis Battlehawks signed defensive tackles Albert Huggins Jr. and Curtis Brooks on Sunday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Albert Huggins Jr. is six foot three and weighs 305 pounds. The 27-year-old from Orangeburg, South Carolina, signed with the Dallas Cowboys on August 7, 2024. In 2024, he made six tackles (1 solo, 5 assists), and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Cowboys released him on August 26, 2024.
The Houston Texans signed Huggins Jr. as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2019. He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Falcons. Huggins Jr. made 41 tackles (10 solos, 31 assists), and one fumble recovery in 27 regular season games.
Collegiately, Huggins Jr. played four seasons at Clemson (2015-18) making 68 tackles (33 solos, 35 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and one pass breakup in 45 games for the Tigers. He is a two-time CFP National Champion.
Curtis Brooks is six foot two and weighs 287 pounds. The 27-year-old from Danville, Virginia, was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round (216th pick) in the 2022 NFL Draft. In 2022, he made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games. The Colts released him on December 19, 2022.
The Tennessee Titans signed Brooks on January 3, 2023, but released him seven days later. Then, he signed with the Washington Commanders on August 3, 2023. In 2023, he did not play in the preseason due to an undisclosed injury. The Commanders released him on August 8, 2023.
Collegiately, Brooks played five seasons at Cincinnati (2017-21) making 162 tackles (85 solos, 77 assists), 23 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 60 games for the Bearcats. He was named First Team All-AAC in 2021.
