The Michigan Panthers (3-2) visited Simmons Banks Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon to close out Week 5 of the UFL season against the Memphis Showboats (1-4) in front of a crowd of 7,640 fans. The Panthers dominated this game for the start going on to beat the Showboats 35-18.

Michigan had 311 yards on offense. Quarterback Danny Etling completed 14 of 21 passes (67%) for 175 yards, five carries for ten yards, and one touchdown. Etling’s rushing touchdown happened in the third quarter for three yards that made it 25-6 Michigan with 12:11 left.

Running back Wes Hills led the rushers with 16 carries for 82 yards, and three touchdowns, while Matt Colburn II had 15 carries for 68 yards, one touchdown, and three catches for 14 yards. The rushers finished the afternoon with 36 carries for 160 yards and five touchdowns.

Wide receiver Siaosi Mariner led the receivers making four catches for 42 yards, and Cole Hikutini made three catches for 64 yards. The receivers finished the afternoon making 14 catches for 175 yards.

Kicker Jake Bates made one field goal for 30 yards. Michigan’s defense made 53 tackles, eight tackles for loss, seven sacks (3 by Breeland Speaks), two interceptions, eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

Memphis had 248 yards on offense. Quarterback Troy Williams completed 19 of 37 passes (51%) for 248 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, and two carries for 24 yards. Williams’s three touchdowns happened in the second and third quarters.

In the second quarter, Williams found Daewood Davis for an 82-yard touchdown cutting Michigan’s lead down to 19-6 with nine seconds left before halftime. In the third quarter, Williams threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Adams which made it 25-12 Michigan with 9:54 left and then threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Sage Surratt making it 25-18 with 30 seconds left.

Running back Darius Victor had nine carries for 17 yards and made three catches for 11 yards. Wide receiver Daewood Davis led the receivers making six catches for 101 yards, and one touchdown. The receivers finished the afternoon making 19 catches for 248 yards, and three touchdowns.

There were no field attempts made by Memphis. Memphis’s defense made 68 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.
