Reading concludes homestand with a loss to Maine

The Reading Royals (14-17-1-1) concluded their three-game series on Monday afternoon from the Santander Arena against the Maine Mariners (14-14-5).

At 9:34 of the first period, Maine’s Curtis Hall put the Mariners up 1-0 with an assist by Alex Kile. Then at 12:20, Maine’s Wyllum Deveaux extended their lead to 2-0 with assists by Alex Kile and Darien Kielb. The Royals had ten shots on goal and trailed the Mariners 2-0 after one period of play.

Twenty-one seconds into the second period, Maine’s Ethan Ritchie made it 3-0 Mariners with assists by Tyler Drevitch and Alex Sheehy. The Royals had 12 shots on goal but trailed 3-0 after two periods of play.

At 5:59 of the third period, Reading’s Joseph Nardi scored to cut the Mariners lead down to 3-1 with an assist by Kenny Johnson. Then at 15:25, Maine’s Tyler Drevitch got the goal back to make it 4-1 Mariners with assists by Wyllum Deveaux and William Provost.

The Royals had nine shots on goal but lost to the Mariners by the final score of 4-1. They finish the homestand with a 1-2 record.

The Royals had 31 shots on goal, committed four penalties, went 0 for 3 on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 24 saves off 28 shots.
