The Calgary Stampeders restructured quarterback Jake Maier’s contract on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In 2022, Maier signed a two-year contract extension with Calgary. He has 50 percent of his base salary guaranteed in 2024 worth $105,600.

Jake Maier is six foot and weighs 227 pounds. The 26-year-old from Fullerton, California, completed 363 of 578 passes (62.8%) for 4,237 yards, 19 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 26 carries for 108 yards, and 3 touchdowns in 18 games for the Stampeders in 2023. He finished third in passing yards (4,244) in the regular season behind Vernon Adams Jr., and Zach Collaros.

The Stampeders signed Maier as a free agent on May 5, 2020. Maier’s played three seasons in Calgary completing 665 of 1,003 passes (66%) for 7,844 yards, 38 touchdowns, 25 interceptions, 50 carries for 186 yards, and five touchdowns in 48 games.

Collegiately, Maier played one season at Long Beach State College in 2016 completing 268 of 422 passes (64%) for 3,689 yards, 38 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 68 carries for 116 yards, and two touchdowns in 11 games for the Vikings. He earned Southern California Football Association Central Division Offensive Player of the Year.

Then, Maier transferred to UC Davis (2017-19) completing 992 of 1,495 passes (66%) for 11,163 yards, 88 touchdowns, 33 interceptions, 108 carries for -120 yards, four touchdowns, six punts for 195 yards, with a long of 44 yards, two touchbacks, and four from inside the 20-yard line in 36 games for the Aggies. He was named First Team All-Big Sky Conference in 2018.
