Former Saskatchewan LB Samuel Eguavoen added to New York Jets practice squad

Former Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Samuel Eguavoen has landed on the New York Jets practice squad after he was waived and went unclaimed. Samuel Eguavoen is six foot and weighs 236 pounds.

The 30-year-old from Garland, Texas, signed with the Jets on August 6, 2023. He played three preseason games for the Jets with nine tackles (5 solo, 4 assists). Before the Jets, Eguavoen played four seasons with the Miami Dolphins making 62 tackles (33 solo, 29 assists), four sacks, and two pass breakups in 66 games.

Eguavoen played three seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2016-18) making 159 tackles (159 solo), 14 tackles on special teams, four sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception for 104 yards, and one touchdown in 38 games. He was released on January 2, 2019, to pursue NFL opportunities.

Collegiately, Eguavoen played four seasons at Texas Tech (2011-14) with 226 tackles (157 solo, 69 assists), 14.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, and three forced fumbles in 48 games for the Red Raiders. He was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2014.
