Pittsburgh Maulers keep playoff hopes alive with a win over Michigan

The Pittsburgh Maulers (3-6) kept their playoff hopes alive on Saturday afternoon from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, against the Michigan Panthers (3-6).

Pittsburgh quarterback Troy Williams completed 14 of 24 passes (58.3%) for 166 yards, one touchdown, and five carries for seven yards to lead the Maulers to a 19-7 win over the Panthers.

Pittsburgh running backs Garrett Groshek and Madre London combined with 22 carries for 79 yards, while wide receiver Josh Simmons made two catches for 20 yards, and one touchdown.

Kicker Chris Blewitt made four field goals with a long of 46 yards and converted one extra point. Pittsburgh’s defense allowed 245 yards, with 52 tackles, seven tackles for loss, five sacks, four interceptions, and eight pass breakups.

Michigan quarterback Josh Love completed 19 of 33 passes (57.6%) for 234 yards, one touchdown, four interceptions, and three carries for 16 yards. Running back Stevie Scott III had nine carries for 25 yards Wide receiver AJ Richardson and tight end Cole Hikutini combined with 11 catches for 180 yards, and one touchdown.

Kicker Cole Murphy did not kick a field goal and converted one extra point. Michigan’s defense allowed 225 yards, with 76 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and six sacks.
