Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign WR Manasseh Bailey and DB Jordan Veltri

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former Morgan State wide receiver Manasseh Bailey and former Wilfrid Laurier defensive back Jordan Veltri.

Manasseh Bailey, a 25-year-old from New York, New York, was drafted by the D.C. Defenders (XFL) in 2023. Last year, Bailey was drafted by the Birmingham Stallions (USFL) in the 17th round but was released.

Bailey signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2020. In addition, he had brief stints with the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets before signing with the Montreal Alouettes in 2021 and was placed on the practice squad.

Collegiately, Bailey played four seasons at Morgan State (2016-19). He started as a linebacker in 2016, making five tackles before converting into a wide receiver.

As a wide receiver, Bailey caught 115 passes for 2,031 yards, 20 touchdowns, and two carries for four yards in 43 games for the Bears. He is a 2019 All-MEAC Third Team and Phil Steele’s All-MEAC First Team in 2019.

Jordan Veltri, a 23-year-old from Burlington, Ontario, played five seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University (2017-22) with 66 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and ten pass breakups in 30 games for the Golden Hawks.

In his final season, Veltri had 40 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in ten games. He was named Player of the Week (9/25/22) after recording five tackles and one pass breakup against the Ottawa Gee-Gees. In addition, he was selected to the OUA Second Team All-Star in 2022.

In 2021, he was selected to the East-West Bowl after making 12 tackles and eight pass breakups in the 2019 season. There was no 2020 season due to the pandemic.
