On Wednesday night, the Reading Royals (28-12-6-1) extended their win streak to five games in a 3-2 shootout win over the Worcester Railers (22-20-3-2) at the Santander Arena.
There were no goals scored in the first period. 54-seconds into the second period, Patrick Bajkov put the Royals up 1-0. Then at 7:20, Worcester forward Brent Beaudoin tied the game 1-1. The Royals regained the lead 2-1 at 14:25 by Garret Cockerill.
In the third period, Reece Newkirk tied the game for the Railers 2-2 at 2:49. Neither team were able to break the tie, and the game went into overtime.
No one scored in overtime, and the game went to a shootout. Royals forward Anthony Gagnon scored the first goal in a shootout, and Logan Flodell stopped the Railers three times to win the game 3-2.
The Royals finished the game with 33 shots, 0/3 on the power-play, and Logan Flodell made 39 of 41 saves. The Royals are on the road against the Railers on Friday at 7:05 pm.
