The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series visited Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday night in the Food City 300. It was the second race of the playoffs. Jesse Love started the race on the pole, with Sheldon Creed starting second.
Jesse Love led the opening 81 laps in the first stage. He went to pit road, and Justin Allgaier took the lead. Allgaier led five laps to win the first stage. In the second stage, Natalie Decker spun on the frontstretch to bring out the caution. Carson Kvapil led a race-high 156 laps, including winning the second stage. However, in the final stage, he suffered a mechanical failure with 50 laps to go and finished in 24th place.
Late in the race, Parker Retzlaff got into Ryan Sieg with three laps to go to force overtime. In overtime, Sheldon Creed took the lead from William Sawalich. Creed held off Sawalich to win his third race of the season by 0.253 seconds. Brent Crews, Justin Allgaier, and Corey Day rounded out the top five. Taylor Gray, Sam Mayer, Parker Retzlaff, Dean Thompson, and Sammy Smith completed the top ten. Click here to view the full results.
