The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series started the first race of The Chase on Thursday night at Bristol Motor Speedway in the UNOH 250 Presented by Ohio Logistics. Layne Riggs started the race on the pole, with Chandler Smith starting second.
Layne Riggs dominated the early portion of the race, leading 135 laps and sweeping both stages. In the final stage, Layne Riggs had a bad pit stop and later had a loose wheel, coming to pit road before leaving two laps down. On lap 170, Nick Leitz got loose and crashed at Turn 3, while Caden Kvapil blew an engine, leaving fluid on the track that caused the race to be red-flagged.
Jake led the race on three separate occasions. Late in the race, he passed Stewart Freisen high to take the lead. He led the final 21 laps to win his first career Craftsman Truck Series by 1.305 seconds over Bayley Currey. It was his 94th-career Truck Series start. Garcia led 104 of 250 laps.
Stewart Friesen, Justin Haley, and Tristen McKee rounded out the top five. Gio Ruggiero, William Sawalich, Kaden Honeycutt, Ty Majeski, and Grant Enfinger completed the top ten. Click here to view the full results. There were four cautions for 38 laps and five lead changes among four drivers.
The Craftsman Truck Series visits Kansas Speedway next Saturday at 1 pm on FS1.
