The B.C. Lions signed defensive back Yahsyn McKee Sr. to a future contract on Wednesday, according to the CFL Transactions page. The contract does not start until after the 2026 season.
Yahsyn McKee Sr. is six foot and weighs 185 pounds. The 25-year-old from Atlantic City, New Jersey, played for the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League in 2026, where he was named First Team All-IFL, Defensive Player Rookie of the Year, and the IFL Defensive Player of the Year after finishing the season with 82 tackles (61 solos, 21 assists), 18 pass breakups, 11 interceptions, two touchdowns, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one kick return for 17 yards in 16 games.
In the IFL National Championship Game against the Green Bay Blizzard, McKee Sr. made five tackles (2 solos, 3 assists) and two pass breakups to help the Rattlers win the IFL National Championship. He re-signed with the Rattlers on September 3, 2026.
Collegiately, McKee Sr. spent three seasons at Mercer University (2019-21), playing wide receiver and defensive back with 59 tackles (39 solos, 20 assists), two tackles for loss, two interceptions, nine pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two blocked kicks, 37 catches for 466 yards, two touchdowns, one carry for 14 yards, 24 kick returns for 533 yards, and 16 punt returns for 65 yards in 29 games for the Bears. He was named to the All-SoCon Freshman Team in 2019 with 37 catches for 466 yards, two touchdowns, one carry for 14 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 12 games.
Then, he transferred to Miami (OH) (2022-23) with 93 tackles (59 solos, 34 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions for 18 yards, 23 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one blocked kick, and five punt returns for 30 yards in 22 games for the Redhawks.
