On Friday night, the Charleston RiverDogs defeated the Hickory Crawdads in Game 3 to win the Carolina League South Division. As a result, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers will take on the Charleston RiverDogs for the Carolina League championship in a best-of-three series.
The Woodpeckers will travel to Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park to face the RiverDogs in Game 1 on Sunday at 5 pm. All games are on the MLB App and Bally Sports Live. Then, the series shifts to Segra Stadium for games two and three. Game 2 will be on Tuesday at 6:35 pm, and Game 3 (If Necessary) will be played on Wednesday at 6:35 pm.
In the season series, the RiverDogs took 10 of 12 games from the Woodpeckers, scoring 79 runs, while the Woodpeckers scored 51 runs. In their first meeting from April 7-12, the RiverDogs took five of six games, scoring 46 runs, while the Woodpeckers scored 29 runs at Segra Stadium. Their last series was from April 28 to May 3 at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park, where the RiverDogs also took five of six games, scoring 33 runs, while the Woodpeckers scored 22 runs.
Charleston won the Carolina League South First-Half Division with a 37-29 record. In the second half, they went 30-33. Their overall record is 73-59. Charleston’s record at home is 37-29, while their road record is 36-30.
The Woodpeckers finished second in the first half of the Carolina League North Division with a 32-33 record. In the second half, they went on a tear, winning 11 straight games to clinch the Carolina League North Division with a 39-25 record. However, the Woodpeckers finished the season on a five-game losing streak in Hickory. Their overall record is 71-58.
