The Montreal Alouettes signed offensive lineman Cameron Smith and defensive lineman Gafa Faga to future contracts on Thursday, according to the CFL Transactions page. The contracts do not start until after the 2026 season.
Cameron Smith is six foot seven and weighs 354 pounds. A native of Garland, Texas, Smith began his collegiate career at Langston University (2021-22), where he was named a two-time All-SAC Honorable Mention, playing 20 games for the Lions.
In 2021, Langston averaged 39 points per game, 431.8 yards per game, 200.9 passing yards, and 230.9 rushing yards per game. In 2022, Langston averaged 38.1 points per game, 443.9 yards per game, 275.6 passing yards per game, and 168.3 rushing yards per game.
Next, he transferred to Clark-Atlanta University in 2023, playing seven games for the Panthers. Then, he transferred to Alabama State University (2024-25), starting 24 games for the Hornets. In 2024, he started 12 games, playing 486 snaps with no sacks allowed and six pressures. The Hornets averaged 22.7 points per game, 312.8 yards per game, 143.8 passing yards per game, 169 rushing yards per game, and 30 touchdowns.
In 2025, he was named Second Team FCS All-American by AFCA and Stats Perform, BOXTOROW HBCU All-American, and First Team All-SWAC after starting 12 games, playing a career-high 595 snaps. He did not allow a sack and allowed two pressures. The Hornets averaged 42.4 points per game, 462 yards per game, 248.8 passing yards per game, 213.3 rushing yards per game, and 67 touchdowns.
Gafa Faga is six foot two and weighs 304 pounds. A native of Alao, American Samoa, Faga attended the Tennessee Titans rookie minicamp in 2026.
Collegiately, Faga spent one season at New Mexico Military Institute in 2022 with 10 tackles (8 solos, 2 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in five games for the Broncos. Then, he transferred to San Jose State University (2023-25) with 99 tackles (43 solos, 56 assists), 10 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 35 games for the Spartans.
In 2024, he was named an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention and Second Team All-Mountain West by Phil Steele after finishing the season with 46 tackles (14 solos, 32 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in 13 games. In 2025, he was named an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention and Second Team All-Mountain West after finishing the season with a career-high 47 tackles (26 solos, 21 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 12 games.
