Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign wide receiver La’Vontae Shenault to a future contract

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed wide receiver La’Vontae Shenault to a future contract on Wednesday, according to the CFL Transactions page. The contract does not start until after the 2026 season.

La’Vontae Shenault is six foot two and weighs 195 pounds. The 25-year-old from DeSoto, Texas, spent three seasons at Colorado University (2019-21) with 23 catches for 253 yards, two kick returns for 55 yards, and four punt returns for 38 yards in 11 games for the Buffaloes.

Next, he transferred to Alabama State University in 2022 with 14 catches for 210 yards, one touchdown, and one punt return for 14 yards in six games for the Hornets. Shenault did not play football in 2023 and 2024 before transferring to Northeastern State University in 2025 with a career-high 75 catches for 1,044 yards, five touchdowns, one carry for 21 yards, one rushing touchdown, two kick returns for 51 yards, and 13 punt returns for 74 yards in 11 games for the Riverhawks. After the season, he played in the Dream Bowl at AT&T Stadium, where he was named the Dream Bowl MVP.
