The Montreal Alouettes signed defensive back Kekoura ‘Joseph’ Tarnue to a future contract on Tuesday, according to the CFL Transactions page. The contract won’t start until after the 2026 season.
Kekoura Tarnue is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. A native of Monrovia, Liberia, Tarnue attended the Denver Broncos rookie minicamp in 2026.
Tarnue played at Coon Rapids High School in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, where he was an All-Conference player as a senior. He led the state with eight interceptions.
Collegiately, Tarnue began at Rochester Community and Technical College (2021-22). In 2021, he made 22 tackles (17 solos, 5 assists), three interceptions for 55 yards, nine pass breakups, one blocked kick, two punt returns for 63 yards, and one touchdown in eight games for the Yellow Jackets. In 2022, he was named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-American after finishing the season with 46 tackles (25 solos, 21 assists), one tackle for loss, eight interceptions for 50 yards, three fumble recoveries, one pass breakup, and two touchdowns in 10 games.
Next, he transferred to Jacksonville State University in 2023 with 53 tackles (47 solos, 6 assists), two tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions for 36 yards, seven pass breakups, one blocked kick, one punt return for 38 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games for the Gamecocks.
Then, he transferred to West Virginia University (2024-25) with 75 tackles (50 solos, 25 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 25 games for the Mountaineers.
