The Ottawa Redblacks released offensive lineman Jaxon Morkin on Saturday, according to the CFL Transactions page.
Jaxon Morkin is six foot three and weighs 290 pounds. The 25-year-old from Windsor, Ontario, signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on August 10, 2026, and was placed on the practice squad.
The Edmonton Elks drafted Morkin in the fourth round (30th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. Morkin appeared in two preseason games for the Elks in 2024, earning a spot on the practice squad. The Elks released him on August 12, 2024, and he returned to Windsor to play in his final collegiate season. The Elks re-signed Morkin on December 6, 2024. In 2025, he played four games. In 2026, he played right guard in two preseason games. The Elks released him on May 31, 2026.
Collegiately, Morkin played four seasons at the University of Windsor (2019-24) with one catch for two yards and one carry for 8 yards in 28 games for the Lancers in 2023. He helped the Lancers win their first playoff game in 50 years. In 2024, Morkin started nine games. Windsor’s offense averaged 26.11 points per game, 195.2 rushing yards per game, 163.78 passing yards per game, 339.0 total yards per game, and 22 touchdowns, finishing 5-4 in the season and losing to Queen’s in the OUA Quarterfinals.
