The Toronto Argonauts signed quarterback Paxton DeLaurent on Monday.
Paxton DeLaurent is six foot five and weighs 220 pounds. The 24-year-old from Camdenton, Missouri, played for the Orlando Pirates of the Indoor Football League in 2026, where he was named the IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after finishing the season completing 289 of 410 passes (70.5%) for 3,142 yards, 64 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, 108 carries for 391 yards, and seven rushing touchdowns in 17 games.
Before Orlando, DeLaurent attended the rookie minicamps with the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2025.
Collegiately, DeLaurent spent two seasons at Central Methodist University (2020-21), completing 218 of 443 passes (49.2%) for 3,025 yards, 31 touchdowns, 16 interceptions, 154 carries for 639 yards, and eight rushing touchdowns in 17 games for the Eagles. He earned Heart of America All-Conference honors in 2021.
Then, he transferred to Southeast Missouri State University (2022-24), completing 737 of 1,209 passes (61%) for 8,563 yards, 63 touchdowns, 23 interceptions, 197 carries for 459 yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, one catch for one yard, and two tackles (2 solos) in 30 games for the Red Hawks.
In 2024, he was named the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year after finishing the season completing 368 of 618 passes (60%) for 4,087 yards, 33 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 64 carries for 96 yards, three rushing touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games.
