The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visited New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon in the Team EJP 175. This was the Truck Series regular-season finale before the Chase. Layne Riggs started the race on the pole with Kaden Honeycutt starting second.
It did not take long for the first caution to come out. At the start of the race, trucks from the back had a hard time getting going, resulting in Luke Baldwin crashing into the back of Jake Garcia. It was one of nine cautions throughout the race for 56 laps. Layne Riggs led the opening 35 laps before making a pit stop. Connor Zilisch took the lead and led 22 laps to win the first stage.
In the second stage, Jake Garcia led 14 laps, and Chandler Smith led 10 laps. Connor Zilisch took the lead on lap 84 and went on to win the second stage. Late in the race, Layne Riggs was leading with four laps to go when Gavan Boschele crashed at Turn 1, sending the race to overtime.
In the first overtime, there was a five-truck crash on lap 181 when Giovanni Ruggiero got sideways and spun in Turn 2 before getting hit by Connor Mosack. Dawson Sutton, Christian Eckes, and Andres Perez were also involved. In the second overtime, Layne Riggs held off Chandler Smith to win his sixth race of the season by 0.293 seconds. Riggs led a race-high 106 of 189 laps.
Kaden Honeycutt, Stewart Friesen, and Connor Zilisch rounded out the top five. Tristan McKee, Christopher Bell, Daniel Hemric, Justin Haley, and Parker Eatmon completed the top ten. Click here to view the full standings.
