The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (4-2) visited TD Place Stadium on Sunday night to close out Week 7 of the CFL season against the Ottawa Redblacks (0-6). This was the first visit from former Ottawa quarterback Dru Brown since being traded back to Winnipeg on June 23, 2026. Before the game, both teams held a moment of silence for Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Jayden Dalke, who passed away in a car accident on Saturday.
Winnipeg got the ball to start the first quarter on the 36-yard line. Dru Brown threw a short pass to Brady Oliveira for four yards to the 40-yard line. Brown rushed for five yards to the 45-yard line, but Bryce Perkins was stopped on third down, and Ottawa took over on the 40-yard line.
Ottawa quarterback Jake Maier threw two passes for 10 yards to the 30-yard line. Third-string quarterback Bryson Banes rushed for two yards, and Greg Bell rushed for two yards to the 32-yard line. Winnipeg brought pressure with Michael Fletcher sacking Maier for an eight-yard loss. Kicker Brett Lauther made a 47-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead with 9:34 left.
For the rest of the first quarter, the teams traded field goals. Winnipeg kicker Sergio Castillo made a 26-yard field goal, and Ottawa kicker Brett Lauther made a 27-yard field goal as time expired to end the first quarter. The Redblacks led 6-3. Ottawa’s offense had 41 yards. Jake Maier was 6 of 7 for 42 yards. Winnipeg’s offense had 61 yards. Dru Brown went 4 of 6 for 33 yards, and one carry for five yards.
In the second quarter, both kickers continued to score points. Winnipeg kicker Sergio Castillo made a 53-yard field goal and a 24-yard field goal, while Ottawa kicker Brett Lauther made an 18-yard field goal and a 29-yard field goal for a 12-9 lead with 1:15 left before halftime.
With under a minute left, Ottawa had the ball on the 28-yard line. Jake Maier threw three passes for 69 yards, including a 36-yarder to Ayden Eberhardt to the 13-yard line. On the next play, Maier’s pass intended for Eugene Lewis was incomplete, but a defensive pass interference penalty on Winnipeg moved the ball to the one-yard line. Bryson Barnes came in and scored the touchdown for a 19-9 lead at halftime to conclude a five-play drive for 82 yards.
Ottawa’s offense had 218 yards. Jake Maier went 17 of 20 for 199 yards, while Greg Bell had six carries for 14 yards, and Bryson Barnes had five carries for 11 yards and one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Kalil Pimpleton made three catches for 83 yards, and Ayden Eberhardt made three catches for 51 yards.
Winnipeg’s offense had 126 yards. Dru Brown went 9 of 15 for 99 yards, and one carry for five yards. Running back Brady Oliveira had four carries for 18 yards, while wide receiver Ontaria Wilson made three catches for 39 yards, and Nic Demski made two catches for 37 yards.
In the third quarter, Winnipeg’s offense was shut out of points. With 10:41 left, Ottawa moved the ball to the 10-yard line. On the next play, Jake Maier’s pass intended for Justin Hardy was overthrown and intercepted by Jake Kelly in the endzone. Winnipeg went two-and-out.
Ottawa had the ball on the 40-yard line. In the fourth quarter, Winnipeg moved the ball to the 31-yard line before kicker Sergio Castillo made a 39-yard field goal. The Blue Bombers trailed the Redblacks 26-12 with 13:17 left. Later, Winnipeg got the ball back on the 45-yard line.
Dru Brown threw three passes for 50 yards, and Brady Oliveira rushed for four yards to the 11-yard line. Michael Chris-Ike rushed for three yards to the eight-yard line. On the next play, Brown scrambled out of the pocket before throwing a touchdown pass to Nic Demski. The Blue Bombers trailed the Redblacks 26-19 with 7:15 left on a six-play drive for 65 yards.
Late in the game, Winnipeg got the ball on the 31-yard line. They moved the ball to the six-yard line. On the next play, Brown threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Ontaria Wilson, tying the game 26-26 with 1:03 left on an eight-play drive for 79 yards. The game went to overtime.
In overtime, Ottawa kicker Brett Lauther made a 17-yard field goal, and Winnipeg kicker Sergio Castillo made a 21-yard field goal to keep the game tied 29-29. Castillo would make a 14-yard field goal, and Lauther made a 40-yard field goal. It was now 32-32 with both teams now having to score two-point conversions.
Ottawa went first. Jake Maier completed a two-point conversion to Eugene Lewis with two Winnipeg players on him for a 34-32 lead. Winnipeg was next. Dru Brown threw a successful two-point conversion to a wide-open Ontaria Wilson, tying the game 34-34.

Next Friday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers host the Calgary Stampeders at 8:30 pm on TSN and CFL+, while the Ottawa Redblacks are on a bye week.
