The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced on their X account today that linebacker Jayden Dalke passed away due to a car accident on Saturday evening.
Jayden Dalke is six foot one and weighs 200 pounds. The 30-year-old from Leduc, Alberta, re-signed with the Roughriders on December 16, 2025. In 2026, he made one tackle on special teams in one preseason game. Dalke would later appear in two regular-season games.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted Dalke in the sixth round (54th pick) in the 2022 CFL Draft. In 2022, Dalke made 15 tackles and 11 tackles on special teams in 13 games. In 2023, he made 41 tackles, three tackles on special teams, one interception, and two forced fumbles in 14 games. In 2024, he made 10 tackles, four tackles on special teams, one sack, and one forced fumble in 16 games.
Dalke re-signed with the Roughriders on December 18, 2024. In 2025, he made three tackles and 13 tackles on special teams in 18 games, helping the Roughriders win the 112th Grey Cup over the Montreal Alouettes.
Dalke began playing football for the Edmonton Wildcats (CJFL) (2015-18) with 183 tackles (165 solos, 18 assists), 29 tackles on special teams, one sack, one forced fumble, six fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, one touchdown, 12 pass breakups, and two kick returns for 29 yards in 32 games.
Collegiately, Dalke played two seasons at the University of Alberta (2019, 2021) with 93 tackles (68 solos, 25 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 43 yards, one touchdown, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 15 games for the Golden Bears. He was named First Team All-Canadian in 2019 and Second Team All-Canadian in 2021.
