The Detroit Lions signed Houston Gamblers wide receiver Lawrence Keys III on Thursday, according to Michael Del Negro.
Lawrence Keys III is five foot eleven and weighs 170 pounds. The 26-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana, was protected by the Houston Gamblers in the 2026 UFL Player Reserve List. In 2026, he made 24 catches for 349 yards, two touchdowns, 19 kick returns for 518 yards, and 11 punt returns for 134 yards in 10 games.
The Buffalo Bills signed Keys III as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made one catch for 13 yards in one preseason game. The Bills released him on August 20, 2024. The Houston Roughnecks signed Keys III on March 8, 2025. In 2025, he made 17 catches for 179 yards, four carries for 26 yards, 20 kick returns for 424 yards, and seven punt returns for 95 yards in eight games.
Collegiately, Keys III played four seasons at Notre Dame (2018-21) with 18 catches for 185 yards, six carries for 45 yards, 10 kick returns for 119 yards, and three punt returns for three yards in 21 games for the Fighting Irish.
Then, he transferred to Tulane (2022-23) with 59 catches for 858 yards, nine touchdowns, nine carries for 68 yards, one touchdown, 26 kick returns for 698 yards, two punt returns for 14 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 23 games for the Green Wave.
