The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visited Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon in the DQS Solutions and Staffing 250. Ty Majeski started the race on the pole, with Christopher Bell starting second.
Christopher Bell led the opening lap before Ty Majeski took the lead on the second lap. Majeski led four laps before Carson Hocevar took the lead. On the eighth lap, there was a three-truck crash involving Spencer Davis, Frankie Muniz, and Kris Wright. All three drivers were able to continue the race. The caution was one of seven throughout the race for 34 laps.
Hocevar led 20 laps before making a pit stop late in the first stage. Hocevar led a race-high 65 of 125 laps. Christopher Bell took the lead. He led a total of 37 laps, including sweeping both stages. In the final stage, pole sitter Ty Majeski’s day was on lap 88 when he spun in Turn 2 before making contact with the wall. He finished in 35th place.
After Cole Butcher and Spencer Boyd crashed on lap 95, it set up a shootout in the final 26 laps. Carson Hocevar was leading, with Corey Heim and Kaden Honeycutt on him. Heim passed Hocevar on lap 111, while Honeycutt took second. From there, the battle for the win came down to Heim and Honeycutt.
Honeycutt came close several times to taking the lead, but Heim was able to hold him to win the race by 0.065 seconds. It was his third win of the season in five starts, and the 26th win of his Craftsman Truck Series career. Carson Hocevar, Layne Riggs, and Chandler Smith rounded out the top five. Christopher Bell, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Connor Mosack, Jake Garcia, and Tyler Ankrum completed the top ten. Click here to see the full results.
