The Montreal Alouettes re-signed offensive lineman Des Holmes and defensive backs Arthur Hamlin and Don Callis to contract extensions through the 2027 season on Tuesday.
Des Holmes is six foot five and weighs 307 pounds. The 26-year-old from Norristown, Pennsylvania, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on February 20, 2025. In 2025, he started four games and finished the season on the practice squad.
Holmes attended Ottawa’s training camp in 2023 but was released on May 17, 2023. The Redblacks re-signed Holmes on January 23, 2024. In 2024, Holmes played two preseason games and was released on May 15, 2024.
Collegiately, Holmes played four seasons at Penn State (2018-21), playing left tackle in 21 games for the Nittany Lions. In 2020, Penn State averaged 29.78 points per game, 174.3 rushing yards per game, 256 passing yards per game, 430.3 total yards per game, 34 touchdowns, and allowed 28 sacks, finishing 4-5 for the season.
Then, he transferred to Arizona State in 2022, playing left tackle in ten games for the Sun Devils. In 2022, Arizona State averaged 26.08 points per game, 135.3 rushing yards per game, 251.92 passing yards per game, 387.2 total yards per game, 40 touchdowns, and allowed 28 sacks, finishing 3-9 for the season.
Arthur Hamlin is six foot and weighs 195 pounds. The 26-year-old from Ottawa, Ontario, made five tackles in two preseason games in 2026.
The Montreal Alouettes drafted Hamlin in the third round (29th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2024, he made five tackles, seven tackles on special teams, and one interception in 12 games. In 2025, he made 17 tackles and four tackles on special teams in 16 games.
Collegiately, Hamlin played five seasons at Colgate University (2019-23) with 70 tackles (50 solo, 20 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception, seven pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 31 games for the Raiders. In 2023, Hamlin made 32 tackles (23 solos, 9 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception, and six pass breakups.
Don Callis is six foot and weighs 184 pounds. The 25-year-old from Los Angeles, California, made seven tackles in two preseason games in 2026.
Callis attended the San Francisco 49ers rookie minicamp in 2024 before signing with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent on July 30, 2024. He did not play in the preseason due to an injury and was released on August 13, 2024.
Callis signed with the Montreal Alouettes on April 14, 2025. In 2025, he made five tackles and one tackle on special teams in two preseason games. He spent over a month on the practice squad. The Alouettes released him on July 11, 2025. The Alouettes re-signed him on August 5, 2025. In 2025, he made two tackles on special teams in four games.
Collegiately, Callis played four seasons at East Central University (Oklahoma) (2019-22) with 77 tackles (47 solos, 30 assists), three tackles for loss, three interceptions for 35 yards, 20 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 27 games for the Tigers.
Then, he transferred to Troy in 2023 with 26 tackles (13 solos, 13 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 14 games for the Trojans.
