The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed wide receiver Javian “J.J.” Hester and defensive back Steven Weston Jr. on Monday.
Javian “J.J.” Hester is six foot five and weighs 201 pounds. A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hester spent two seasons at Missouri (2020-21) with 15 catches for 255 yards, two touchdowns, and two tackles (2 solos) in 15 games for the Tigers.
Next, he transferred to Oklahoma (2022-24) with 15 catches for 328 yards, one touchdown, two tackles (2 solos), one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 21 games for the Sooners. Then, he transferred to Kentucky in 2025 with eight catches for 117 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games for the Wildcats.
Steven Weston Jr. is six foot and weighs 185 pounds. A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Weston Jr. spent four seasons at Ouachita Baptist (2022-25) with 141 tackles (92 solos, 49 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions for 42 yards, 36 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 45 games for the Tigers.
In 2025, he was named First Team All-GAC and Second Team Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Region after finishing the season with a career-high 51 tackles (28 solos, 23 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, three interceptions, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 11 games. He was also named Second Team All-GAC in 2024.
The Roughriders also announced they released offensive lineman Darius Washington and placed defensive lineman Lake Korte-Moore on the one-game injured list.
