The Repco Supercars Championship concluded the weekend at Symmons Plains Raceway on Sunday for Race 16 of the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440 in Launceston, Tasmania. Broc Feeney started the race on the pole, with Matthew Payne starting second.
Feeney spun the tires to begin the race, giving a slight edge to Payne. It did not last long as Feeney got by him at Turn 2 for the lead. In the back, Will Brown moved up to third place after starting in the sixth position. Later, Brown was caught in a battle with Anton De Pasquale on lap 8. Not far behind, Chaz Mostert was moving up the field. He was in eighth place after starting 18th.
After the first round of pit cycles, Feeney kept the lead with Payne behind, and Kai Allen in third. On lap 36, Allen made his second pit stop, with Payne stopping on lap 45, and Feeney a lap later. Feeney’s pit crew got him out quickly to maintain the lead over Payne.
Feeney dominated this race, lapping cars from 15th place and back. Once the final pit stops were complete, Anton De Pasquale undercut Brown to take fourth place. One driver who had a rough afternoon was Brodie Kostecki. He had issues with refueling and brakes, and ended up finishing in 12th place.
Upfront, Feeney cruised to his fourth win of the season by 7.268 seconds over Matthew Payne. Kai Allen, Anton De Pasquale, and Will Brown rounded out the top five. Jayden Ojeda, Aaron Cameron, Ryan Wood, Chaz Mostert, and Cam Waters completed the top ten. Click here to see the full results.
