Calgary Stampeders sign OL Martes Lewis, re-sign DB Corey Coley Jr.

The Calgary Stampeders signed offensive lineman Martes Lewis and re-signed defensive back Corey Coley Jr. on Thursday.

Martes Lewis is six foot six and weighs 325 pounds. The 24-year-old from Gary, Indiana, attended rookie minicamp with the Washington Commanders in 2026.

Collegiately, Lewis spent five seasons at the University of Minnesota (2020-24), playing right tackle and right guard in 51 games, of which 16 were starts for the Golden Gophers. In 2023, he started at right guard in 13 games. Minnesota’s offensive line helped them average 20.9 points per game, 300.9 yards per game, 143.4 passing yards per game, 157.5 rushing yards per game, and 29 touchdowns.

Then, he transferred to Northwestern in 2025, playing 13 games, of which 11 were starts for the Wildcats. Northwestern averaged 23.4 points per game, 346.1 yards per game, 185.9 passing yards per game, 160.2 rushing yards per game, and 34 touchdowns. The Wildcats finished 7-6 for the season and went on to beat Central Michigan in the GameAbove Sports Bowl.

Corey Coley Jr. is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 22-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, signed with the Calgary Stampeders on January 9, 2026. They released him on May 13, 2026.

Collegiately, Coley Jr. began his collegiate career at the University of Maryland (2021-22) with 37 tackles (30 solos, 7 assists) and three pass breakups in 32 games for the Terrapins.

Then, he transferred to North Carolina State University in 2024 with 10 tackles (8 solos, 2 assists) and two pass breakups in six games for the Wolfpack.

Coley Jr. attended Trinity Christian Academy, where he made 123 tackles (72 solos, 51 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and 10 pass breakups. In his senior season, he made 32 tackles (24 solos, 8 assists), three tackles for loss, three interceptions, two pass breakups, and two blocked field goals. He helped lead Trinity Christian Academy to an 11-1 record and an appearance in the 2020 FHSAA 3A State Championship game.

The Stampeders also announced that defensive linemen Daniel Joseph and Justin Sambu were placed on the six-game injured list.
