The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visited Watkins Glen International on Friday in the Bully Hill Vineyards 176. Brent Crews started the race on the pole, with Ty Majeski starting second. There were a handful of Cup Series drivers in this race, including Carson Hocevar, Shane van Gisbergen, Connor Zilisch, A.J. Allmendinger, and Ross Chastain.
Brent Crews led the opening 17 laps before he made a pit stop, and Daniel Hemric took the lead. Meanwhile, Kaden Honeycutt was penalized for entering pit road when it closed. Hemric went on to win the first stage. The second stage was won by Connor Zilisch, who led 19 laps. He would lead a race-high 29 of 74 laps.
The first two stages were caution-free until the final stage. There were four cautions, three of which happened in the last ten laps. Some of the drivers who were involved in crashes were Carson Hocevar, who crashed on the restart with nine to go. Layne Riggs, Kris Wright, Christian Eckes, and Adam Andretti were in another, and Ross Chastain crashed with seven to go.
Up front, Kaden Honeycutt cleared Connor Zilisch on the restart with three laps to go. Honeycutt held off Zilisch and Shane van Gisbergen to score his first career Craftsman Truck Series win by .902 seconds. It was Honeycutt’s 67th career Truck Series start. Daniel Hemric and Chandler Smith rounded out the top five. A.J. Allmendinger, Brent Crews, Mini Tyrrell, Brenden Queen, and Connor Mosack completed the top ten. Click here to see the full results.
