The B.C. Lions released defensive lineman Christian Covington on Friday.

Christian Covington is six foot two and weighs 300 pounds. The 32-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, made four tackles and one sack in 11 games for the Lions in 2025.

The Houston Texans drafted Covington in the sixth round (216th pick) in the 2015 NFL Draft and drafted by the B.C. Lions in the fifth round (43rd pick) in the 2015 CFL Draft. Covington chose to play in the NFL.

Covington played eight seasons in the NFL for the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Dallas Cowboys with 196 tackles (106 solos, 90 assists), 19 tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hits, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two pass breakups in 102 games, of which 32 were starts.

In 2023, he returned to the Chargers for his second stint on the practice squad. The B.C. Lions signed Covington on May 1, 2024. In 2024, he made 29 tackles, six sacks, and two forced fumbles in 18 games.

Collegiately, Covington played four seasons at Rice University (2011-14) with 104 tackles (65 solo, 39 assists), 19.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two blocked kicks in 27 games for the Owls.
