Edmonton Elks sign LB Jadon Pearson, two others

The Edmonton Elks signed offensive lineman Jason Laliberte Jr., linebacker Jadon Pearson, and long snapper Orin Schellenberg on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Jason Laliberte Jr. is six foot seven and weighs 312 pounds. A native of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Laliberte Jr. recently attended the Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp.

Collegiately, Laliberte Jr. spent five seasons at the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota) (2021-25), playing 41 games for the Tommies. In 2025, he was named Second Team All-Pioneer Football League after finishing the season starting 10 games.

St. Thomas averaged 30.9 points per game, 375.4 yards per game, 236.9 passing yards per game, 138.5 rushing yards per game, and allowed 20 sacks in 49 games. He was also named a two-time Fourth Team All-Pioneer Football League and an All-Pioneer Football League Honorable Mention in 2022.

Jadon Pearson is six foot two and weighs 170 pounds. A native of Gilbert, Arizona, Pearson began his collegiate career at the Air Force in 2020 with six tackles (2 solos, 4 assists) in four games for the Falcons. Next, he transferred to Reedley College in 2021 with 74 tackles (56 solos, 18 assists), nine tackles for loss, three interceptions, and four pass breakups in 11 games for the Tigers.

Then, he transferred to Utah (2022-23) with nine tackles (6 solos, 3 assists) in 17 games for the Utes. Pearson transferred to Utah State in 2024 with 18 tackles (5 solos, 13 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, and two pass breakups in three games for the Aggies.

Pearson concluded his collegiate career at Fresno State in 2025, where he was named Second Team All-Mountain West after finishing the season with a career-high 106 tackles (51 solos, 55 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 13 games for the Bulldogs.

Orin Schellenberg is five foot eleven and weighs 200 pounds. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Schellenberg spent five seasons at the University of Alberta (2021-25) with 26 catches for 397 yards, four touchdowns, one carry for four yards, and 12 tackles (8 solos, 4 assists) in 29 games for the Golden Bears. Schellenberg helped kicker Eric Schwarz make 4 of 9 field goals (44.4%), with a long of 32 yards, and six extra points.
