The Toronto Argonauts signed defensive lineman Denzel Daxon and draft picks defensive back Louis-Philippe Gauthier and wide receiver Tyriq Quayson on Monday.
Denzel Daxon is six foot two and weighs 320 pounds. The 27-year-old from Nassau, Bahamas, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the second round (16th pick) of the 2024 CFL Global Draft. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024.
In 2024, he made seven tackles (2 solos, 5 assists), half a sack, and one quarterback hit in three preseason games. He spent the season on the practice squad. In 2025, he made five tackles (2 solos, 3 assists) and one sack in three preseason games. The Cowboys released him on August 25, 2025. The Arizona Cardinals signed Daxon to the practice squad on September 2, 2025.
Collegiately, Daxon spent two seasons at Ohio (2021-22) with 11 tackles (5 solos, 6 assists), two tackles for loss, and one sack in 24 games for the Bobcats. Then, he transferred to Illinois in 2023 with 27 tackles (9 solos, 18 assists) and half a tackle for loss for 12 games for the Fighting Illini.
Louis-Philippe Gauthier is six foot and weighs 202 pounds. The 24-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the third round (22nd pick) of the 2026 CFL Draft.
Collegiately, Gauthier spent four seasons at the University of Montreal (2022-25) with 84 tackles, three forced fumbles, and eight interceptions (seven of them came in the playoffs) in 33 games. He helped Montreal win the Vanier Cup for the second time in three years. He was named an RSEQ All-Star in 2025.
Tyriq Quayson is six foot one and weighs 197 pounds. The 24-year-old from Vaughan, Ontario, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the sixth round (49th pick) of the 2026 CFL Draft.
Collegiately, Quayson went to Wilfrid Laurier, where he competed in track and field for the Golden Hawks. He was named MVP and Rookie of the Year. Then, he transferred to Windsor. In 2025, he made 20 catches for 269 yards, four carries for 77 yards, five kick returns for 93 yards, one punt return for 20 yards, and one tackle (1 assist) in eight games for the Lancers.
