The Edmonton Elks placed defensive lineman Tyreek Johnson on the retired list on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Tyreek Johnson is six foot four and weighs 283 pounds. The 27-year-old from Sumter, South Carolina, signed with the Edmonton Elks on July 2, 2025. In 2025, he made 13 tackles and one sack in 13 games.
The New York Jets signed Johnson as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2024. The Jets released him on June 6, 2024.
Collegiately, Johnson played five seasons at South Carolina (2019-23) with 29 tackles (15 solos, 14 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 26 games, of which four were starts for the Gamecocks.
Johnson was named a four-time SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll (2019-22), Gamecock Toughness Award, co-President’s Outstanding Student, NFF Hampshire Honor Society, and CSC Academic All-District in 2023.
