The Ottawa Redblacks signed quarterback Zach Calzada and offensive lineman Marcus ‘Tank’ Jenkins on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Zach Calzada is six foot four and weighs 230 pounds. The 25-year-old from Buford, Georgia, began his collegiate career at Texas A&M (2019-21), completing 196 of 352 passes (56%) for 2,318 yards, 17 touchdowns, nine interceptions, 40 carries for -9 yards, one rushing touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 15 games for the Aggies.
Next, he transferred to Auburn in 2022, but did not see any action for the Tigers due to a shoulder injury. Then, he transferred to Incarnate Word (2023-24), where he completed 517 of 780 passes (66%) for 6,144 yards, 53 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, 135 carries for 382 yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, punting the ball three times for 122 yards (40.7 AVG), and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 22 games for the Cardinals. He was named a two-time First Team All-Southland Conference (2023-24), Southland Player of the Year in 2024, AP All-American Honorable Mention in 2024, and Southland Newcomer of the Year in 2023.
Calzada concluded his collegiate career at Kentucky in 2025, completing 28 of 58 passes (48.3%) for 238 yards, two interceptions, 14 carries for 23 yards, and one rushing touchdown in three games for the Wildcats.
Marcus ‘Tank’ Jenkins is six foot three and weighs 320 pounds. A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Jenkins began his collegiate career at Texas A&M (2018-19), but did not see any action for the Aggies.
Then, he transferred to the University of Houston (2020-24), playing 2,674 snaps at right guard in 50 games for the Cougars. In 2024, he played 621 snaps in 11 games, of which 10 were starts. Houston averaged 14 points per game, 288.1 yards per game, 152.7 passing yards per game, 135.4 rushing yards per game, and 20 touchdowns.
