The D.C. Defenders re-signed offensive lineman Matthew Foster on Wednesday according to Fox Sports.

Matthew Foster is six foot seven and weighs 315 pounds. A native of Ellenwood, Georgia, Foster signed with the D.C. Defenders on February 23, 2026. He attended training camp before the team released him on March 19, 2026.

Collegiately, Foster spent five seasons at Virginia State University (2019-23), playing 16 games for the Trojans. In 2022, he was named First Team All-CIAA and the CIAA Lineman of the Year after starting eight games.

Virginia State averaged 30.5 points per game, 416.6 yards per game, 204.2 passing yards per game, 212.4 rushing yards per game, and 44 touchdowns. After the season, he played in the HBCU Legacy Bowl.

In 2023, he was named Second Team All-CIAA after starting eight games. Virginia State averaged 37.4 points per game, 424.3 yards per game, 220 yards passing per game, 204.3 rushing yards per game, and 54 touchdowns.
