Porsche Penske Motorsport completes 1-2 Sweep at Sebring International Raceway

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship concluded the weekend on Saturday in the 74th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway.

For the second consecutive year, the Porsche Penske Motorsport finished 1-2 for the second straight season. No. 7 Porsche 963 of Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer, and Laurin Heinrich won the race by 1.515 seconds. This is the second straight season that they started the season winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Their teammates, the No. 6 Porsche 963 of Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, and Matt Campbell, finished in second place. Between the two teams, they combined to lead 273 of 343 laps on the 3.74-mile, 17-turn circuit. In Daytona, the two teams combined to lead 521 of 705 laps. Add that up, they have led a total of 794 of 1,048 laps.

The two teams exchanged the lead several times throughout the race. After final pit stops were complete, plus a late restart, Felipe Nasr was the driver of the No. 7 Porsche 963 when he led his team to victory. In addition, Porsche also finished 1-2 in GTD Pro with the No. 911 Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) of Klaus Bachler, Thomas Preining, and Ricardo Feller over the No. 77 AO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) of Alessio Picariello, Nick Tandy, and Harry King.

Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) saw the United Autosports USA teammates of the No. 2 ORECA of Mikkel Jensen, Philip Fayer, and Hunter McElrea winning the race over the No. 22 ORECA of Paul Di Resta, Daniel Goldburg, and Rasmus Lindh.

In GTD, the No. 21 Af Corse USA Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO of Antonio Fuoco, Lilou Wadoux Ducellier, and Simon Mann, won in GTD after Fuoco made a clean pass in the final minutes of the race over the No. 27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo of Tom Gamble, Zacharie Robichon, and Dudu Barrichello. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns on April 17-18 from the streets of Long Beach, California, for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The GTP and GTD classes will be in action.
