The Ottawa Redblacks signed defensive back Marcus Barnes on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Marcus Barnes is six foot three and weighs 195 pounds. The 25-year-old from Jeannette, Pennsylvania, attended the Cincinnati Bengals rookie minicamp in 2025. The Columbus Aviators drafted Barnes in the 2026 UFL Draft. He attended training camp, and the Aviators released him on March 19, 2026.

Collegiately, Barnes spent six seasons at The College of William & Mary (2019-24) with 214 tackles (128 solos, 86 assists), two tackles for loss, nine interceptions for 58 yards, 24 pass breakups, and four forced fumbles in 47 games for the Tribe.

In 2023, he was named an All-CAA Honorable Mention after finishing the season with 54 tackles (29 solos, 25 assists), one interception, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 10 games. In 2024, he was named Second Team All-CAA after finishing the season with a career-high 69 tackles (37 solos, 32 assists), four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 12 games.
