The NASCAR Cup Series visited Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon in the Pennzoil 400 Presented by Jiffy Lube. The front row was Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Christopher Bell, who started on the pole, and Denny Hamlin, who started second.
The race was caution-free in the first two stages. Christopher Bell won the first stage, and William Byron won the second stage. During the second stage, Denny Hamlin was issued a speeding penalty, but his car was strong all race long.
The only on-track caution that happened in the race came at lap 211 when Connor Zilisch spun, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was involved. Hamlin led a race-high 134 laps to win his first race of the season by .502 seconds over Chase Elliott. It was Hamlin’s 61st career Cup Series victory.
William Byron, Christopher Bell, and Ty Gibbs rounded out the top five. Bell led 62 laps, which was the second-most laps led in the race. Chris Buescher, Kyle Larson, Chase Briscoe, Bubba Wallace, and Brad Keselowski completed the top ten. Check out the rest of the results here. The Cup Series heads to Darlington Raceway next Sunday at 3 pm on FS1.
