The Toronto Argonauts signed wide receiver Almount ‘A.J.’ Smith on Friday.

Almount ‘A.J.’ Smith is six foot four and weighs 190 pounds. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Smith played for the Michigan Bills and the Detroit Ravens of the Player’s Football Association. In two seasons, he made 63 catches for 1,698 yards, 18 touchdowns, one tackle (1 solo), one forced fumble, and punting the ball four times for 145 yards (36.2 AVG), with a long of 49 yards, and one from inside the 20-yard line in 18 games.

In 2024, he made 20 catches for 712 yards, six touchdowns, and one forced fumble in eight games. In 2025, he made 43 catches for 986 yards, 12 touchdowns, one tackle (1 solo), and punting the ball four times for 145 yards (36.2 AVG), with a long of 49 yards, and one from inside the 20-yard line in 10 games.

Collegiately, Smith spent two seasons at Independence Community College (2020-21) with 20 catches for 344 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games for the Pirates. Then, he transferred to the University of Tennessee-Martin (2022-23) with three catches for 56 yards, one touchdown, and one kick return for four yards in 20 games for the Skyhawks.
