The D.C. Defenders signed defensive end Carlos ‘Boogie’ Basham on Thursday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Carlos ‘Boogie’ Basham is six foot three and weighs 274 pounds. The 28-year-old from Roanoke, Virginia, was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round (61st pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He also spent time with the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, and the Las Vegas Raiders. Basham made 61 tackles (27 solos, 34 assists), six tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, 4.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one interception, and one fumble recovery in 43-career NFL games.
The Carolina Panthers signed Basham on January 21, 2025. In 2025, he made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) and one quarterback hit in three preseason games. He made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in three games. The Panthers released him on November 4, 2025. The Las Vegas Raiders signed Basham to the practice squad on November 25, 2025.
Collegiately, Basham spent four seasons at Wake Forest University (2017-20) with 173 tackles (97 solos, 76 assists), 36.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, one touchdown, and one blocked kick in 45 games for the Demon Deacons. He was named First Team All-ACC in 2019 and Third Team All-ACC in 2020.
