Ottawa Redblacks sign OL Gabriel Brown and LB Bo Spearman

The Ottawa Redblacks signed offensive lineman Gabriel Brown and linebacker Bo Spearman on Thursday according to the CFL Transactions page. They also placed defensive lineman Anton Juncaj on the retired list.

Gabriel Brown is six foot three and weighs 315 pounds. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Brown began his collegiate career at Bowling Green State University (2020-21). In 2021, he appeared in 12 games playing on special teams.

Then, he transferred to Grand Valley State University (2022-24), where he played right guard in 38 games for the Lakers. He was named Second Team All-GLIAC in 2022 after playing 497 snaps. GVSU averaged 37.9 points per game, 449.8 yards per game, 221.2 passing yards per game, 228.7 rushing yards per game, and 69 touchdowns.

In 2023 and 2024, he was twice named First Team All-GLIAC, along with the GLIAC Offensive Lineman of the Year, Consensus All-American, First Team All-American by CCA, Walter Camp Foundation, D2Football.com, and Don Hansen in 2024. He was also a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award in 2024.

In 2024, GVSU averaged 29.5 points per game, 387.3 yards per game, 168.9 passing yards, 218.4 rushing yards per game, and 50 touchdowns.

Bo Spearman is six foot and weighs 223 pounds. The 24-year-old from Irondale, Alabama, transferred to Austin Peay State University in 2024 with a career-high 58 tackles (30 solos, 28 assists), eight tackles for loss, four sacks, and two pass breakups in 12 games for the Governors.

Collegiately, Spearman spent four seasons at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (2020-23) with 67 tackles (36 solos, 31 assists), three tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and three fumble recoveries in 33 games for the Mocs. In 2023, he made 46 tackles (24 solos, 22 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 13 games.

Anton Juncaj is six foot three and weighs 272 pounds. A native of Port Jervis, New York, Juncaj attended the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie minicamp in 2025. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Juncaj on January 26, 2026.

Collegiately, Juncaj spent one season at Southern Connecticut State University in 2019 with 40 tackles (24 solos, 16 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in nine games for the Owls.

Next, he transferred to the University of Albany (2022-23) with 84 tackles (51 solos, 33 assists), 28.5 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, five pass breakups, and five forced fumbles in 24 games for the Great Danes.

In 2023, he was named First Team All-CAA, First Team All-CAA by Phil Steele, First Team All-American by the AP, FCS Football Central, and AFCA, and Second Team All-American by Phil Steele after finishing the season with 55 tackles (34 solos, 21 assists), 21.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, three pass breakups, and five forced fumbles in 15 games. He was also a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award.

Then, he transferred to Arkansas in 2024 with 19 tackles (7 solos, 12 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in 11 games for the Razorbacks.
