The Repco Supercars Championship concluded the weekend on Sunday with Race 7 of the Melbourne SuperSprint at Albert Park in Melbourne, Victoria, as part of the F1 Australian Grand Prix weekend.

The race was set for 14 laps. Will Brown started the race on the pole with Thomas Randle starting second. The race got off to a chaotic start as soon as the lights went out. Ryan Wood got off to a slow start and made contact with Kai Allen. Allen’s briefly went up in the air before landing hard, and as a result, Wood suffered a left front tire, and Allen suffered a right front tire in the process.

They continued heading into Turn 1 when Wood went into the gravel, and Kai Allen hit Broc Feeney, sending him spinning before getting hit by Cooper Murray, and Zach Bates was also involved in the crash that brought out the safety car. Jackson Walls, David Reynolds, and Rylan Gray were also involved in the crash.

Once the cleanup was complete, the race resumed on the fifth lap with Will Brown leading Thomas Randle. Randle challenged Brown for the lead, while Brodie Kostecki picked off Aaron Cameron for third place. Two laps later, Kostecki passed Randle for second place. He was 1.3 seconds behind Brown.

Because of the cleanup on the first lap, the race was shortened by one lap. On lap 12, Kostecki got Will Brown to lock up his brakes at Turn 11. Kostecki would lead the final two laps to win his third race of the season by 1.756 seconds over Will Brown. Kostecki takes on the Larry Perkins Trophy and is the new leader in the championship standings.

Thomas Randle, Jack Le Brocq, and James Golding rounded out the top five. Cameron Waters, Jayden Ojeda, Chaz Mostert, Kai Allen, and Macauley Jones completed the top ten.

The Repco Supercars Championship returns to Taupō International Motorsport Park in the ITM NZ Doubleheader on April 10-12.
