The Birmingham Stallions signed offensive lineman Zack Johnson on Friday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Zack Johnson is six foot six and weighs 301 pounds. The 29-year-old from Apple Valley, Minnesota, re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers on January 6, 2025. They released him on August 9, 2025. The Detroit Lions signed Johnson on August 14, 2025. In 2025, he played in two preseason games. The Lions released him on August 26, 2025.

The Green Bay Packers signed Johnson as an undrafted free agent on May 1, 2020. He also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, and the Tennessee Titans.

The Birmingham Stallions signed Johnson on October 11, 2023. In 2024, Johnson started 10 games. Birmingham’s offense ranked first in total yards (3,475), rushing yards (1,347), second in passing yards (2,128), first in yards per game (347.5), and touchdowns (31) as the Stallions won the UFL Championship over the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0. Johnson was named to the All-UFL Team.

The Stallions released him on July 27, 2024, and he signed with the Cleveland Browns on the same day. Johnson played in three preseason games. The Browns released him on August 26, 2024. The San Francisco 49ers signed Johnson to the practice squad on December 31, 2024.

Collegiately, Johnson played five seasons at North Dakota State (2012-16), playing left guard in 54 games for the Bisons. In 2015, he was part of an offensive line that ranked first in the FCS in time of possession (36:38) and third in total first downs (329) while leading the Missouri Valley Football Conference in fewest sacks and tackles for loss allowed per game.

Johnson helped the Bisons win three FCS National championships. He was named First Team AP All-American in 2016, Second Team All-MVFC in 2013, and played in the 2017 East-West Shrine Game.
