The D.C. Defenders signed defensive end Christian McCarroll on Saturday according to James Larsen.
Christian McCarroll is six foot two and weighs 253 pounds. The 26-year-old from Barberton, Ohio, signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on January 13, 2025. He attended training camp, and the Tiger-Cats released him on May 23, 2025.
The New England Patriots signed McCarroll as an undrafted free agent on August 20, 2024. In 2024, McCarroll made one tackle (1 assist) in one preseason game. The Patriots released him on August 26, 2024.
Collegiately, McCarroll played four seasons at Grand Valley State University (2019, 2021-23) with 151 tackles (50 solos, 101 assists), 31.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one touchdown in 47 games for the Lakers.
In 2023, he made 67 tackles (21 solos, 46 assists), 15 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 13 games. He was named two-time Defensive Player of the Year, two-time First Team All-GLIAC, and Consensus All-American.
