The Birmingham Stallions signed defensive back Jesse Johnson III on Monday according to James Larsen.
Jesse Johnson III is five foot eleven and weighs 168 pounds. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Johnson III began his collegiate career at Eastern Illinois University in the fall of 2020, but did not see any action for the Panthers.
Next, he transferred to Tiffin University (2020-23) with 54 tackles (36 solos, 18 assists), half a tackle for loss, two interceptions, and 11 pass breakups in 32 games for the Dragons. In 2023, he had a career-high 28 tackles (20 solos, 8 assists) and six pass breakups in 11 games.
Then, he transferred to Austin Peay State University in 2024 with a new career-high 46 tackles (31 solos, 15 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions for 99 yards, one touchdown, six pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 12 games for the Governors. He was named Second Team All-UAC.
