The Columbus Aviators released defensive back Josh Thompson on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Josh Thompson is six foot and weighs 191 pounds. The 27-year-old from Nacogdoches, Texas, was drafted by the Columbus Aviators in the 2026 UFL Draft.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Thompson as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2022. In 2022, he made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Jaguars released him on August 31, 2022, and re-signed him to the practice squad two days later.
The Tennessee Titans signed Thompson off of Jacksonville’s practice squad on October 18, 2022. He played in six regular-season games with four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists) and one fumble recovery. He also spent time with the Houston Texans and the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons signed Thompson on June 2, 2025. In 2025, he made nine tackles (6 solos, 3 assists) in three preseason games. The Falcons released him on August 23, 2025.
Collegiately, Thompson spent five seasons at Texas (2017-21) with 109 tackles (79 solos, 30 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 27 yards, one touchdown, nine pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 46 games for the Longhorns.
